Adventure Tourism Diploma
Can you imagine getting paid to take people on outdoor adventures? That is exactly what you will do after 34 weeks of training in Canadian Tourism College’s Adventure Tourism Diploma program. This program is for the true outdoorsman or woman who does not want to sit in a classroom nor begin a career in an office. A large focus of this training is on developing advanced first aid skills and avalanche awareness. This is an essential component because accidents do happen and it is imperative for you to be able to handle them when in the backcountry.
Canadian Tourism College shows you how to lead a wilderness trip, knowing the type of clothing and equipment that will be required. With safety and skill, you will be able to take people ocean kayaking, river rafting, river kayaking, and more. While doing this, you will be able to offer environmental and cultural heritage interpretation. You will also be knowledgeable about First Nations’ culture and tourism within BC.
The program also introduces you to the natural history of BC. You will be able to talk about geographic features, terrestrial ecosystems, mammals, and plants. You will understand the geographic highlights of the province, as well as the environmental concerns. The knowledge you obtain will lead you to graduate with a variety of licenses and certifications. Combine this with an exciting 160-hour internship in an adventure tourism capacity and you will be ready to embark on an amazing outdoor career!
