Nursing Unit Clerk
Can you see yourself as the communication hub for a hospital or other medical facility? With the Nursing Unit Clerk program at Stenberg College, you will specifically be prepared to work in BC hospitals and will keep doctors, other health professionals, patients, and visitors connected. You will help your unit run in an organized and efficient manner.
Your daily tasks will vary greatly. You may take a doctor’s orders and pass them on to the appropriate department. You will organize, prepare, and summarize reports. You will be able to handle patient charts right from the time they are admitted to when they are discharged. You will also learn how to process patient requests and exam orders, as well as manage nursing and medication files.
You will handle many of the administrative activities related to admissions, transfers, and discharges. You will also learn how to perform transcription for medication, lab, surgical, and diagnostic orders. You will acquire proficiency with Meditech, a commonly used software application in hospitals. If you are able to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines, Nursing Unit Clerk is the career for you!
