Do you desire a career where you help special needs children and youth learn and grow? This is exactly what you will do once you complete the Special Education Assistant program at Stenberg College. You will have the skills and abilities needed to offer vital support to elementary and secondary school teachers. Throughout the program, strong emphasis is placed on behavioural analysis.
You will learn how to set up the classroom and assist with learning material to ensure every child’s needs are met. The program will teach you how to properly observe and record behaviour, as well as supervise and escort students to and from activities. Upon successful completion of the program, you will possess strong knowledge of child and youth development and disabilities to ensure you are able to work with any type of special need.
The Special Education Assistant program also takes you through the various levels of the Canadian school systems so you understand the role that a Special Education Assistant plays. You will be prepared to take on Special Education Assistant and Teacher Assistant positions within public and private schools, community centres, and more!
