triOS College
Community Services Worker Diploma
You are a very compassionate person that feels a deep-seated connection to your community. You are deeply upset when you see homeless on the streets, struggling single moms, and people fighting addiction. You feel their pain and your heart tells you to find a career where you can help. Your first step is to enroll in the Community Services Worker program at triOS. You can choose to take this program with or without an internship depending on the level of experience you desire.
You will learn to provide many types of assistance to people in the community from determining eligibility for welfare and healthcare programs, to counseling on child care, to helping clients with physical and mental problems as well as those involved in drug and substance abuse. You will do all this under the supervision and/or guidance of nurses, counselors, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
The topics covered in the program include an introduction to psychology and mental health, community services in Canada, sociology and criminology, and an introduction to addictions. You will learn the skills necessary to serve clients in hospitals, halfway houses, detox centres, residential care facilities, and more. You could find a job as a Child Abuse Worker, Crisis Intervention Counselor, Residential Manager, and Drug Abuse Counselor, just to name a few. Are you ready to make a lifelong difference in other people's lives?
