Community Health Care
Do you want a career that will be both fulfilling and challenging? Do you love interacting with people and being a shoulder to lean on? If this sounds like you, UCW Academy of Health can offer you the chance to train for a career in community health care, where you will be able to pursue positions in long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centres, and even in the homes of patients.
Behaviour management, non-violent crisis intervention, special education principles, recreational therapy, and practices for dealing with patients suffering from mental health disorders are just a few of the areas of study you will focus on during your intensive in-class and field-based training. The practicum portion of the program is split between an intermediate care facility, an extended care facility, and in non-clinical settings throughout the community, giving you a wide view of the directions that you can take upon graduation.
If you can imagine yourself with a career title like Resident Care Attendant, Nurse's Aide, Home Support Worker, or Special Needs Assistant, this is a great time for you to fill out a short information request form and find out about attending UCW. Your new career could be closer that you might think!
