The Cardiology Technologist Diploma program can allow you to reap the benefits of training without having to commit to full-time, on-campus studies. Thanks to the hybrid format, you can complete the 60-week diploma program through a blend of online training, paired with lab and field sessions.
Beginning with a two-day orientation offered in Calgary, Halifax, and Winnipeg, you can meet the coordinator and fellow students. You can also acquire valuable learning strategies, and become acquainted with Moodle, the online learning platform.
Throughout the remainder of this program, you can complete your academic studies through guided and interactive online learning, which utilizes forum discussions, teleconference sessions, live classroom meetings, tutorial sessions, and more.
This material can provide you with a solid understanding of:
- Standard ECGs
- Special ECGs
- Testing for exercise tolerance
- Holter monitoring
- Pacemaker lead implants
The Real Deal: Hands-On Experience
In addition to the online training, you will also have the opportunity to participate in two field experiences, as well as two further on-site components. The on-site sections will require you to be at the Calgary, Halifax, or Winnipeg location for 10 days of hands-on ECG training, plus nine days of practical training related to exercise tolerance testing and phlebotomy.
You can then complete a 12-week clinical preceptorship at a carefully selected site within Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, or Manitoba. This can allow you to put your newfound skills and knowledge into practice, and provide the chance to gain experience in all required areas.
